Bringing the outdoors in...

Clean air and a little life, what's not to love?

We'll be amongst the first to soak up the sunshine on a bright Autumn day, but around this time of earthy become a bit more hard to come by. So, our crew begins to lean on board games and cards a bit more than our usual hikes and cycles and more outdoorsy expeditions. With so much time spent indoors in these winter months, we find that bringing a healthy dose of the outdoors in helps us to lighten up. Why not make it a family project?

Branches of Autumn Leaves: The trees need a bit of pruning? Bring those branches of Autumn leaves in doors and drape them about the mantels for a few days or weeks. Having a closer look at the most intricate of Autumn leaves helps to remind us how spectacular nature really is...

Houseplants: They'll liven up the place quickly. Overwhelmed by choice at the local garden centre? We're not the most seasoned green thumb, but even we've had luck with the swiss cheese plant, heartleaf philodendrons, kentia palm, arrowhead vine and spider plant. Buy one of each or a couple of your favourites and pepper them about the place, taking the advice on the grower's care card to heart. Someone doesn't seem happy after a few weeks? Swap the plants about whenever someone shows signs of stress (yellowed leaves and the like). When they throw out a bit of new growth, you'll know they're really content.

Don't have a car and fancy a big plant? Londoners can tap into Patch...or pay a bit less by booking an Uber from the local garden centre. Oh! And we've liked having this book on the shelf to help troubleshoot when our plants aren't thriving.

Bumble Box kits are designed to bring families together. We catch animals' footprints in the sand, give the trees a shake to see what's living in there, host a Family Olympics, plant a fairy garden, race homemade boats in the get the drift. Together, we'll make it through your family-time bucket list.
